Education is both the act of teaching knowledge to others and the act of receiving knowledge from someone else. Education also refers to the knowledge received through schooling or instruction and to the institution of teaching as a whole.

In turning education into a system of mass production we created a superbly democratic system that made the majority of people, and the world as a whole, much better off. It was the right decision. But we lost the most elegant and beautiful minds.

Now consider our current situation. A child is born assumed to have inborn traits, including, for example, a preference as to what they want to be when they grow up (somehow just waiting fully-formed inside of their six-year-old selves). Then they are thrown into the school system, a competitive academic meritocracy wrapped in a stupid hierarchical bureaucracy, a structure in which they will spend most of their young adult life, forced to learn mostly from their peers, who know as little as they do. If they happen to test well or their parents spend the money, they might end up in slightly smaller classes, and with slightly better teachers, and with slightly smarter peers, but the structure will be the same. The first real intellectuals that most children meet in person are their college professors - already at eighteen and stuck in a class with dozens of other people.

It is something that is completely wrong and offensive to how humans normally become interested in things. We isolate children from great minds.

And, for humans, engagement is a social phenomenon; particularly for children, this requires interactions with adults who cannot just give them individual attention, but also model for them what serious intellectual engagement looks like.

The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” - Albert Einstein

A child requires both knowledge and imagination to grow in to a Great Person.

In the present school system, we try to impart known knowledge to the child at any cost, but gradually reducing the child’s imagination. This type of Education helps an individual meet basic job qualifications and makes them more likely to secure better jobs. It is no surprise that such methods don’t reliably produce geniuses or entrepreneurs.

The Existing school system relies on standardization of syllabus with a set of text books. Since each child is unique and develop differently, this school system may not show the child’s true potential or test its intelligence.

If this method of education is the key to success, then why are we surrounded by poor graduates and rich criminals?

At present, job requirements are changing continuously and rapidly. Keeping this in mind, the present school system should change drastically from only 'knowledge based learning' to both 'knowledge and imagination based learning', if the child has to have any chance for the future.

In modern times, knowledge is freely available on internet. If we teach the child how to use the internet to search and find the required information, I think the present school system is not required. For physical and social growth of a child, we can choose from various individual camps and training centers that are run by professional firms, based on each child’s interest. This way the child not only gains knowledge but also uses its imagination.
