Sanction is an action that is taken or an order that is given to force a country to obey international laws by limiting or stopping trade with that country, by not allowing economic aid for that country.

Can imposing sanctions on a sovereign country by another country or a group of countries achieve their goals? Are sanctions aimed at punishing the country’s leaders and intended targets or the country’s entire population? If it affects the common citizens, is it not similar to Total war on the country?

Just like in a war, the target country’s leaders and wealthy or influential individuals and institutions will be protected and they will be safe and least affected by sanctions. Innocent citizens will always be affected and they will suffer the most.

If, people think that waging war is a crime, then imposing sanctions on a country with disregard for its citizens is also a crime.

In this time of globalization, some countries have prospered because of their ideologies and better propaganda. Many countries are under developed in modern civilization while others are trying to develop. The rich nations or developed countries thinking that they are superior, will try to impose their ideologies on developing or under-developing countries against their will. If they refuse, than the developed countries will impose sanctions on the independent country.

In our modern times, sanction has been invented by some arrogant nations as an alternative to war and they are only aimed at crippling the target country, just like in a war. Sanctions have become their Economic Weapon. But since trade is interlinked with many countries, imposing sanctions on one country may affect many countries including themselves, thus making them ineffective. "Sanctions are a double-edged sword".

Sanctions are like bombs. You target an individual by a dropping a bomb, which may destroy everything and kill many other innocent people, while the targeted individual may or may not be affected.

I think sanctions show the arrogance of the imposing nations. Responsible nations should find an alternate solution to sanction, where the entire country should not be punished for the mistakes of their leaders.
