Modern Humans exist because of their capability of generating Energy using nature (Oil, Gas, Solar, Wind, Water, etc).

Humans are physically weak compared to some animals. But because of our superior brain power, we have succeeded in living in all parts of the planet. We have become one of the most adaptable species. I think all of this has happened because Humans have harnessed Energy from nature and used it to power tools and machines and thus extended or increased our capabilities in all walks of life (Ex: Communications, travelling, reasoning, health, art, etc).

Humans have evolved continuously from making tools for hunting animals to making fire by using energy from nature. As we started making complex tools, our energy requirements started increasing. As we moved from hunter-gatherers to agriculture and human settlements, we started inventing new tools and machinery, which further increased our energy requirements.

We started generating energy to power various machines. We have found various sources of Energy (Oil, Coal, Solar, Water, Wind, nuclear, etc) and the quest for finding new sources continues.

I think Coal and Oil has been one of the main drivers of modern times. They have been the main source of energy for the spectacular Growth of Humans in the last 100 Years.

Today, Coal and Oil are the major source of Energy. After finding other sources of Clean Energy, some people are calling Coal and Oil as Dirty Fuel as they give byproducts during energy conversion, that they blame it for causing pollution and Global Warming.

All the Energy sources that we have found in nature or we will find in the future will help in the growth of humans in various ways. As our knowledge increases, some of them may become our major source at different times of our history. Therefore, we should respect all the Energy sources.

Modern Lifestyle requires enormous amount of energy. As we invent new things and grow our energy requirement keeps growing. We invest a lot of our resources to generate more and more energy.

We have become so much dependent on Energy now that, if there is shortage of energy, people's lives could be at stake.
