Violence is the behavior or treatment involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. The damage inflicted by violence may be physical, psychological, or both.

Violence by humans existed since recorded history but Society Encourages Violence by punishing small crimes and rewarding big crimes (in most of the civilizations both past and present).

·     If you kill a person, you are called a murderer  (you will be prosecuted and punished).

·    If you kill a few people, you may be called as a terrorist   (you will be hunted and killed).

·   If you kill many people,  you will be called a  brave  or  courageous person  (You will be recognized and rewarded for your act. example: warrior or a soldier).

·    If you kill millions of people, or wipe out entire race or community, you will be called a Great person or a Conqueror  (you will be a historic person and future generations study you and you will be made immortal).

If you are a murderer or a terrorist, society considers you bad, but if you are brave or conqueror the same society considers you good (This rule applies to all other types of violence). If you are a violent person, this is how the society motivates you.

Society remembers the violent person more than the peaceful person. For example Adolf Hitler and M.K. Gandhi (for comparison both lived at the same time).

At present, all major cultures talk of peace and harmony but, in reality they create enemies of other cultures. They create warriors and soldiers of common people by brainwashing them in guise of defenders. These soldiers then don’t hesitate to kill their enemies even though they don’t know each other nor done any harm to them.

Even though we live in the most peaceful time in our history (per capita), leaders of nations tries to instigate violence by branding other countries bad, and therefore stockpile weapons of mass destruction. Instead I think, national leaders should strive for stability and peace and use diplomacy to promote trade between their country and other countries so their people will use their creativity and work hard to grow individually thereby growing their society.

Present societies must change the People’s mindset about violence.

In modern civilizations, we should create and build a culture which looks all humans as one and hate all kinds of violence.

It may not be possible to eradicate violence, but it can be minimized if the society discourages violence and embrace peace.

Society Glorifies Violence, but most of time does not Promote Peace.
